On web 3.0

Steve Smith has written a fascinating article on Web 3.0. In it, he discusses the merging of the individual with the broader connectedness of Web 2.0. This convergence is what makes web 3.0. “The Web itself will add value to our lives by becoming more like a shadow self, a parallel Me. The next Web will apply massive artificial intelligence to our past online behaviors, personal information, and what we’re doing now”. Still, this sounds a lot more attractive than the turgid semantic web, a hyper-searchable database, which is what I thought web 3.0 was really about. And if this isn’t enough, check out this post from Seth Godin on web4.

Naturally enough, I hope to be around for web 2100.00 but who’s counting?
